A man has been arrested in the Athens district of Tavros for illegally dumping construction waste amid a police crackdown on the practice, authorities said Friday.
Police said the 33-year-old suspect was detained Thursday by a specialized team of officers patrolling for illegal waste disposal, after he drove to a plot in Tavros and deposited several bags of rubble.
The suspect faces charges of breaking environmental legislation. His small van was confiscated.
Police have made several arrests in recent months for fly-tipping in Tavros and the nearby Votanikos district.
