The general hospital on the island of Kefalonia has denied allegations of delayed emergency response in the April 14 death of a 19-year-old woman, dismissing the claims as “false and defamatory.”
In a statement, the hospital administration insisted doctors and nurses “performed their duties impeccably,” condemning what it described as malicious accusations. The case centers on three men, aged 22, 23, and 26, arrested on charges of manslaughter by omission. According to testimony by the 23-year-old suspect, the group ordered cocaine through the 26-year-old before the young woman lost consciousness and began convulsing.
The 23-year-old stated he urged calling an ambulance, but the others resisted. He said he ultimately called emergency services himself, and then carried the unconscious woman downstairs, instructing others to say she had been found in the street.
