A doctor has appeared before a prosecutor on charges of issuing and selling prescriptions for narcotic pills in Athens’ central Omonia district, police have said.
Officers arrested the 51-year-old medical practitioner on Monday evening.
According to police, officers observed the man meeting with another individual in the area before approaching him for a check. During a search, authorities said they found and confiscated 21 prescriptions for narcotic pills in his possession.
Investigators allege that the doctor was selling the prescriptions.
A case has been filed against him for violations of legislation on addictive substances.
