Greek authorities have impounded 229 luxury cars in a nationwide crackdown for alleged tax, regulatory and customs violations, the independent AADE tax authority said Saturday.
An AADE statement said the vehicles included Bentleys, Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Porsches, estimated to be worth more than €10 million in total.
The statement said the operation followed information from toll booths and customs houses that was matched with digital risk assessment tools.
The cars were located in garages, dealerships and elsewhere. Some will be checked against stolen vehicle data bases, while in one case cocaine was found in a car, the statement said.
