The cross-checking of data by ministries regarding payment of insurance, road tax and technical inspections (KTEO) for the creation of a single register of vehicles in the next few months has led to the discovery of violations; fines will be assessed to motorists.
Thousands of vehicle owners have not paid their road tax or insurance, and many businesses have employed various tricks.
One company didn’t pay the road tax for its 229 vehicles, and 12 of the vehicles were uninsured.
Another company insured its vans as if they were motorcycles. Fines totaling more than €650,000 are being issued.
