Police in Piraeus have arrested a taxi driver with more than three kilograms of heroin in his vehicle, who is suspected of drug trafficking throughout the Greater Athens region.
A police statement Tuesday said a search of the 34-year-old’s home turned up more heroin, bringing the total quantity of the drug seized in his possession to nearly nine kilos.
The suspect was arrested late Monday. Police said that together with the heroin he was carrying about half a kilo of an unidentified substance used to adulterate the drug and maximise profits.
The taxi and a car belonging to the suspect were confiscated.
