A new bill by the Environment Ministry allows for urban development of parts of Natura areas that are located next to the boundaries of cities or villages.
The possibility will be given in areas where town planning must definitely be expanded and the Natura area was an “obstacle.”
With other regulations, the ministry restores or continues to extend the possibility of legalizing all kinds of illegal constructions in forests, such as livestock units, churches and monasteries, ski resorts, mountain refuges, hotels and campsites.
It also makes legislative regulations specifically to allow the construction of a chapel in a monastery on Mount Ymittos, in Attica.
