A random traffic police road safety operation has led to the seizure of 30 kilograms of marijuana in northern Greece, state ERT television said.
ERT said officers stopped a car in the Kastoria area, near the Albanian border, early Thursday as part of a nationwide crackdown on dangerous driving, with a focus on drink-driving, speeding and other major violations.
As the driver appeared more worried than the circumstances would dictate when his identity documents were requested, officers searched the car and found the drugs in the boot.
The suspect faces drug trafficking charges. The car was confiscated.
