A 30-year-old father was arrested in Agrinio, central Greece, on Saturday after allegedly attacking his 12-year-old daughter with a knife and burning her with a cigarette.
He is also accused of physically assaulting four of his other children, aged 6, 9, 10 and 11, in front of their 29-year-old mother, who has also been detained.
Police reports detail a disturbing sequence of events in which the father chased his daughter with a knife, punched her in the face, hit her with a chair, and burned her cheek with a cigarette.
The assaults were followed by further violence against his other children. The five children, along with a 2-year-old sibling, were temporarily hospitalized for medical attention.
Both parents face charges of domestic violence, causing dangerous bodily harm, and endangering the welfare of minors. They were to appear before the public prosecutor in Aetolia-Akarnania.
